If You Have any Questions While Traveling to Rehab Call Our 24 Hour Hotline:
Smart Tips – for Peaceful Travel to Rehab
At Aid in Recovery, we understand that traveling for treatment can be stressful. Rehab is a time of change in your life and things are in flux. We want you to know that we are here to help make your trip as simple as possible. Here is a step-by-step guide to a soft landing when traveling to your rehab of choice.
Morning Confirmation Phone Call
On your day of travel, our Client Care Coordination team will call to make sure you are packed and ready. If you need help with transportation to the airport, let one of our representatives know so they can assist you. At this time, don’t hesitate to ask questions. You are embarking on the bravest journey of your life, and it’s completely normal to be nervous or experience some uncomfortable feelings. Don’t let your imagination fill in the blanks! Knowing what to expect will alleviate stress, so please ask away!
Leave yourself extra time for traffic jams and delays at security, so you don’t add stress to your trip. Arrive at the airport two hours before your flight. Getting to the airport early will give you extra time to get checked in and comfortable. Take this time to get comfortable with your surroundings, and to double-check that you have everything handy that you might need on the flight.
Claim Your Ticket
When you arrive at the airport, proceed to the airline ticket counter. Present your ticket and government-issued ID to the agent and they will print out your boarding pass. This is the time that you will hand over any luggage that you want to check with the airline attendees. Don’t check in your carry-on bag. Once you have your boarding pass, you can proceed to your gate. Use any extra time after claiming your ticket to check your flight status. You can find this information on numerous screens throughout the airport, as all incoming and departing flights will be displayed. It is important to see if your flight is departing on time and to double-check which gate it’s departing from. If at any time there is confusion, please call our 24 Hour hotline for help.
Boarding the Plane
Once you have your ticket, proceed to the boarding gate. First, you will travel through security, and it is a good idea to know what to expect. There are specific guidelines about what you can and cannot carry on the plane, and you can familiarize yourself with these prior to your trip. There will be security guards and metal detectors, and you may be asked to follow specific instructions (like removing your shoes or removing your belt). Don’t panic: you are not being targeted, as this is standard security procedure. If you have prescribed medications, don’t be scared to bring them with you. We realize that this is a time where everything is a new experience, and it is critical to follow all rules and regulations concerning drugs and attempting to carry on any illegal substances. Don’t hesitate to mention any concerns related to withdrawals or physical discomfort. We are here to help and we cover all the bases. While you wait at the gate, this is a good time to send texts or make phone calls. If for any reason your flight is delayed and you have a connecting flight you might miss, call us before you leave the gate so we can call and make arrangements while you are on your first flight.
When You Land
You’re almost there! Once you’ve landed, collect your personal belongings, exit the plane and turn on your phone. Head over to baggage claim and pick up any luggage that you originally left with the airport personal when receiving your boarding pass. This is where you will meet your driver. They will have a sign with your name on it and a lanyard with their badge. If you do not see a sign with your name, call the 24-hour hotline and we will get you in touch with your driver. Pick up your luggage and head out with your driver. Congratulations, you made it!
